Transitional Housing at the Salvation Army of Spokane


Since 1999, Kelly Ruggles has led American Reliance Group, a Spokane, Washington-based financial services firm. Alongside his professional pursuits in Washington State, Kelly Ruggles serves as advisory board chair for the Spokane Corps of the Salvation Army. In its efforts to assist local individuals and families in need, the Spokane Salvation Army offers a variety of support programs. To qualify for the Stepping Stones Transitional Housing program, families with children must have an income which is at or below 30 percent of the median income for Spokane County. Those who are accepted into the program have the opportunity to stay in a 30-unit apartment complex for up to 24 months. During their time at Stepping Stones, families participate in case management and attend life skills classes to help them address underlying issues that may have contributed to their homelessness. In addition to providing somewhere to stay, the Salvation Army's Stepping Stones housing program gives Spokane families the chance to pay off debt, build their income, and connect with community resources to help them after they leave the program.
