November 2018 brought good news for people with multiple sclerosis (MS). The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced the launch of the National Neurological Conditions Surveillance System (NNCSS). The project aims to leverage data to develop a better understanding of neurologic conditions such as MS.
The NNCSS project will begin with the CDC analyzing data for MS and Parkinson’s disease. In the future, the CDC intends to expand the NNCSS to include other neurologic conditions. Going forward, the National MS Society intends to collaborate with the CDC and use the collected data to hone research efforts that may result in better treatment options or perhaps even a cure for MS.
